Nonprofit Petco Love Gives $35,000 Grant to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue

J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue was founded in 2020 to help rehome unwanted exotic pets and aquatic animals.

The grant will enable J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue to acquire a vehicle the rescue will use during its Exotic Pet Surrender events.

J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue announced that Petco Love, a national nonprofit will give a $35,000 grant to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue to help with the animal rescue’s continuing efforts to save and improve the lives of pets in Wisconsin and to help with the efforts to help find homes for these animals that have been given up for adoption or abandoned.

The grant will enable J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue to acquire a vehicle the rescue will use during its Exotic Pet Surrender events. “This means we are going to be able to focus our efforts and resources and help even more people and pets,” John Moyles, Executive Director of J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue said in a press release.

“Our investment in J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image-recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue was founded in 2020 to help regime unwanted exotic pets and aquatic animals. It works to ensure that no exotic animals are released into the wild, but rather takes them in and rehomes them. The rescue will hold 29 Exotic Pet Surrender events in 2024 and since its founding in 2020, the rescue has rehomed more than 6,000 pets. It is Wisconsin’s largest exotic pet rescue.
