A panther chameleon was stolen October 9 from a Missouri pet store in St. Louis County and the owner of the store wants the thief caught and prosecuted.

Jim Brumley, owner of Exotic Arc filed a police report with video showing the thief opening the panther chameleon’s enclosure and removing the reptile and leaving the store. There were two other alleged accomplices with the thief, described as a teenager or young man. The other accomplices include a boy and an older man that looks to be in his 20s.

"We try to make sure people know we have a really good surveillance system and we try to keep an eye out for this thing so nine times out of ten they get caught," Brumley told KTVI.

The chameleon is a juvenile and is currently orange and beige in coloration and is about four inches in length, not including the tail.

Brumley hopes someone in the public will recognize the alleged thief and will either call his shop at 314-631-7272 or the local police. The panther chameleon is worth an estimated $250. The theft of an animal in the state of Missouri is a Class D felony.
