It’s the holiday season, which means it’s also the gift-giving season. If you’re having trouble choosing the perfect gift for someone on your list, the Phoenix Herpetological Society (PHS) has an idea for you: adopt a crocodile.

OK, so PHS doesn’t literally want you to adopt a crocodile. The organization offers virtual adoption for its reptiles on display (not just crocodiles, but alligators, snakes and other reptiles too). For $25 per month or $250 for a year, you can sponsor one of PHS’s reptiles. The donation goes toward the animal’s feedings, maintenance and care. Those who virtually adopt an animal also get a framed photo of it that’s perfect for display (and the part you wrap to give as a gift).

Virtual adoptions, since no reptiles are taken home, are great for those who cannot care for one on their own or children who aren’t ready for the responsibility of having a real-life pet. For more information on the Phoenix Herpetological Society’s virtual adoption program, visit the PHS website
