A boa constrictor (Boa constrictor sp) in Idaho has lost its keeper and the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office is trying to help the snake find its way home. The sheriff’s office posted a photo of the healthy looking snake and is asking anyone who may know the keeper to contact the office at 208-785-1234.
Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue
The sheriff’s office brought the snake to the Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue. The shelter’s executive director, Amanda Cevering, told EastIdahoNews.com that the snake was found to be in good condition. So far, the snake hasn’t found its keeper, though folks are contacting the shelter about the prospect of adoption.
The post on the sheriff’s department’s Facebook page garnered lots of comments.

The community up there sure loves snakes.
“We have had snakes before. . . pythons. But it isn’t very common,” Cevering told the news site. “We do have a bunch of people who are interested in adopting it, and we will go that way if nobody claims it,” she said.
While it isn’t clear whether the snake escaped its enclosure or was illegally released, Cevering said there are solutions to those who can no longer care for any animal.

“If people have exotic pets that they realize they can no longer keep or don’t want, there are resources for them. Most animal shelters will take them. Just don’t let things like that loose because it won’t survive in our climate, or if somebody had run it over. There’s a thousand ways it could have died,” she said.
