A woman who police say stole four bearded dragon lizards from a Huntington Station, New York, pet store in August has been arrested.

Anisa Escobar, 46, of Mount Sinai, New York, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and endangering the welfare of a child.
Store video surveillance showed a woman and two male juveniles approach an enclosure that housed some fairly expensive bearded dragon morphs, and as one juvenile cut the screen to the enclosure and placed the lizards in the woman’s purse, another acted as a look out.

Anisa Escobar, 46, of Mount Sinai, New York, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and endangering the welfare of a child. Suffolk County Police released the surveillance footage late last month and offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the woman. According to Huntington Patch, numerous Crime Stopper tips were submitted, which helped identify the woman.
The four bearded dragon lizards have not been located.
They’re not dangerous, Selmer’s Pet Land store owner Jessica Selmer, told the New York Post. They’re just very fragile. . . They’re not meant to be in the wild or meant to be taken by people who don’t know how to take care of them.
