The above acronyms stand for the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) and the United States Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK). Both are on alert for legislation that could limit your ability to keep your favorite pet reptiles. It’s no secret that politicians and special interest groups have been targeting the reptile hobby, most recently passing a new law in Ohio that restricts the ownership of certain species of reptiles and other animals.

USARK and PIJAC oppose anti-reptilekeeping legislation, and both are important alert and defense mechanisms for the pet reptile industry.  You can support both groups, either by direct donations via their websites (pijac.org and usark.org) or by participating in one of the many reptile expo auctions that raise money for them.
