The holidays are a wonderful time surrounded by family, friends, and most importantly, food, and it’s important to make sure your reptiles aren’t left out of the festivities! Zoo Med’s got some tasty, simple recipes that will show your reptiles they’re part of the family, while using up some of the leftover ingredients from your holiday meals.

Main Course: Stuffed Sweet Potato

Great For: Bearded Dragons, Blue Tongue Skinks, Box Turtles, Redfoot Tortoises, Tegus

Ingredients:

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 1 apple
  • Several green beans
  • Zoo Med Natural Reptile Pellets
  • Can O’ Insects
  • ReptiViteTM and Repti Calcium®

Step 1: Cook sweet potato with skin still on

Step 2: Scoop out the insides of your cooked sweet potato and place in mixing bowl

Step 3: Chop apple and green beans

Step 4: Moisten Reptile Pellets

Step 5: Mix pellets, green beans, apple, and sweet potato insides

Step 6: Stuff mixed ingredients back into sweet potato skin and top with Can O’ Insects

Dessert: Pumpkin Pie

Great for: Iguanas, Bearded Dragons, Blue Tongue Skinks, Sulcatas, Leopard Tortoises, Box Turtles, Redfoot Tortoises, and Tegus

Ingredients:

  • Zoo Med Natural Reptile Pellets
  • Pumpkin or Butternut Squash Purée
  • Cranberries
  • ReptiViteTM and Repti Calcium®

Step 1: Moisten pellets and mash into graham cracker like crust on a paper plate

Step 2: Spread squash purée in even layer on top of pellets

Step 3: Garnish top with cranberries and serve!
