Firefighters are often called to rescue cats in trees, but in this case, the firefighters responding to a Sept. 23 house fire in Westworth Village, Tex., rescued a pet frog after they doused the flames on a house whose residents sans one, luckily out of town. The battalion chief, Richard Harrison, was quoted as saying that his crew have saved dogs and cats, but this is the first instance in which a pet frog was saved.

Resident Jamie Wilson came onto the scene and asked the firefighters if they could find the family frog and they did, bringing it and its entire enclosure out of the house. The frog was doing just fine, but the house suffered an estimated $60,000 in damage.
This isn’t the first time this year that a firefighter saved a pet herp. In March of this year, a firefighter battling a burning home in Muskegon, MI. saved a 7-foot boa constrictor. That house unfortunately was destroyed by the fire.
