Green Anoles Remain Favorites
While patrolling the aisles of pet stores, reptile specialty shops and herp expos, one’s mind can become rapidly boggled by the assortment of cool reptiles and amphibians that are available to hobbyists today. Coupled with all the different morphs of this vast number of animals, the variety of potential herp pets is truly astounding. There really is an animal out there to suit everyone’s taste, as well as everyone’s wallet.
Even with all the animal choices available to us these days, it’s nice to know that the inexpensive little green anole remains a favorite lizard pet. This attractive lizard has been a pet store mainstay for decades, and it holds a special place in my heart. Due to it’s reasonable price tag, it was one of the first reptile pets I purchased as a budding young reptile owner. I’m willing to bet the same may be true of many of you.
I remember how excited I was to see my first green anole in the wild, when I was visiting North Carolina years ago. Maybe it wasn’t exactly “the wild”—the anole jumped onto a plant on the patio of a restaurant where I was eating—but even so, I’ll never forget seeing that little guy!
