One of the parrots, a Timneh African Grey parrot named Hans was killed, as was Buddy, the bearded dragon.
The boy was charged with criminal mischief and burglary, according to Webster Police, and the Lollypop Farm Humane Society toiled the Democrat and Chronicle that it will pursue animal cruelty charges against the boy.
The pets belonged to Meyer’s daughter, Georgia, 9, who was distraught at the beginning but seems to be doing better, according to her father.
"That bird would live longer than I would, so he was going to be with my daughter when I’m gone," said Meyer. “Georgia was also fascinated with her pet lizard, a bearded dragon named Buddy, and knew everything there was to know about its anatomy and lifestyle,” Meyer said.
Meyer has since started a GoFundMe account in hopes of raising enough money to replace the pets that were killed by the boy.
