At any rate, the turtle or tortoise was pretty speedy for a chelonian and made it off the field safely.
Baseball games are sometimes interrupted by the strangest creatures. Birds often come to mind, as do squirrels, and even dogs. This past weekend, a turtle made its on-field debut at LECOM Park in Bradenton FL where the Bradenton Marauders hosted the St. Lucie Mets.
“We have some type of creature on the field, the announcer said. “Is it a squirrel or a rodent, I don’t know. What do we have there? It’s a turtle!” The announcer quipped as several outfielders tried to shoo the turtle away. “Pitcher Magdiel Cotto’s the hero, he’s got the turtle, and now it might be a member of the bullpen.”

Cotto then later returned to the field to record his first professional save.
The comments on X got a bit cheeky, as the Greensboro Grasshoppers chimed in, “Please tell us it’s now the office pet.”
The Bradenton Marauders responded, “We sent him back to his family @daytonatortugas. and the Daytona Tortugas responded “Can Confirm.”
