The new president and CEO of PIJAC, Mike Canning, owns turtles and a breeding pair of corn snakes.

The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) has welcomed Mike Canning as its new president and chief executive officer.

Over the next few months, Canning will meet with industry leaders, aid in developing a long-term strategic plan for PIJAC and solicit new members, according to the organization. He will be formally introduced to PIJAC membership during the H.H. Backer Pet Industry Christmas Tradeshow in Rosemont, Ill.

According to PIJAC, Canning’s experience in government affairs and the nonprofit sector will make him a valuable addition to the team.

Canning is a reptile hobbyist who has two aquatic turtles and a breeding pair of creamsicle corn snakes.
