Brazilian scientists have discovered a new species of snake that is a foot long, non-venomous, and pretty as all get out. The snake, named Atractus spinalis and of the family Dipsadidae, is brownish and reddish-burnt orange in coloration with a yellowish belly.

New Caecilian Species Discovered In Brazil

According to Spanish news reports, the snake was found and identified by scientists from federal universities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Scientists with the Brazilian National Center for Research and Conservation of Reptiles and Amphibians also contributed in identifying the reptile.

The specimen was found in the Serra do Espinhaco mountain range under some rocks on a savanna that extends from Minas Gerais and Bahia states.
