If you live in the Cardinal Square Apartments in Beaumont, Tex. and your ball python escaped, it is now with Beaumont Animal Services as it was found by a woman in the apartment complex.

The approximately four-foot long snake was found in the woman’s apartment after she woke up with her dog barking at the reptile, according to 6 KFDI. She then watched as the snake crawled from the front of the dog’s crate to the kitchen, where it  holed up in the oven.

"The resident said she last seen the snake go in the kitchen. We searched the whole kitchen, behind the cabinets, and under the refrigerator," said Benjamin Dykes with Beaumont Animal Services. "I looked behind the stove and I thought I saw something. Then I looked in the oven and there she was."

The snake, which is believed to be gravid, was safely removed and is at the Beaumont Animal Shelter where it will remain until the owner comes forward to claim the reptile. If nobody claims it, the snake will serve as an educational tool for Southeast Texas school children.
