The alligator was found in Wisconsin's Long Lake.
An American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) that was found over the 4th of July weekend in Wisconsin’s Long Lake has found a home at the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary in Athens, Michigan.
The alligator was captured by the Osceola Boat Patrol, which then transferred the reptile to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The department contacted J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue (JRAAR) which was able to take the reptile in.

“Legally, we are able to take in alligators up to 30 inches long, and this guy is much less than that,” John Moyles said in a statement released to the media at the time the alligator was turned over to the rescue. “We are fortunate that we are in a position to help this animal either be legally reunited with his owner or sent to a sanctuary.”
The rescue looked for the owner for about a week and with no luck, the reptile was sent to the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary.
