Expert breeding tips for the hourglass treefrog.
Hourglass treefrogs are small, usually measuring only about three-fourths of an inch to an inch and a half long, and they are attractively marked. Their bold patterns consist of a darker tan color variegated in vivid yellow, and although their markings are extremely variable, many individuals have an hourglass-shaped marking on their back.
Reclassified as Dendropsophus ebraccatus, these frogs were previously known as Hyla ebraccata and are closely related to, and resemble, the clown treefrog (D. leucophyllatus), though hourglass treefrogs are smaller. Distribution ranges from southern Mexico and Central America to northern Colombia. These nocturnal frogs are arboreal and can often be seen out in the open at night.
