A security guard at a posh resort in Indonesia was apparently killed by a python as he attempted to move it off the resort's grounds, according to news reports. The Bali Hyatt guard, Ambar Arianto Mulyo, 59, attempted to capture the large snake, grabbing the head and tail with his hands to subdue it. The snake, however, wrapped itself around Mulyo, crushing the man's neck as friends watched, apparently too terrified to help. The python was said to have been about 13 feet in length, but there was no verification as the snake was never captured. There were not any reports as to the species of snake that killed Mulyo, but the reticulated python (Python reticulatus) and the Burmese python (Python bivittatus) , two of the largest snake species in the world, are native to the island nation.
