I have a grey GBKS her name is elmo i just bought her a new tank and stuff to make it more like her natural habitat she is just under 3ft and i not sure how old she is i not had her a year yet and i got her off a mate she is on medium mouse once a fortnight are these snakes easy to breed or are they like other kings very aggresive many thanks

“So, I purchased a GBKS (hatching) from a local pet shop. I was told it had been eating by one of the shop employees. I took the snake home, tried feeding him a pinky tail or arm being he is so small but he wont eat it. I took the snake back to the pet shop and they explained that no in fact the snake had never ate before and they’ve tried helping me get the snake to eat wax worms which even doing that i have to pretty much force feed them to the snake. I understand this is stressful to the snake, i just wanted him to have something in his belly and not starve. I keep the tank around 70-80 degrees for around 10-12 hours a day. He is going through his first shed currently which has been going on now for over a month. he still doesn’t eat anything unless its a wax worm i force feed him.
some one help please, what should i do? my next step is to try the rubbing a mice on a lizard i guess. i’m running out of ideas. Any ideas would be appreciated.

“Thanks for the info. How do I get the cage to 55 degrees for brumation? He’s kept in our basement where we keep it at 68 degrees. It’s a finished basement that is used all day, everyday. Our garage is out of the question since it’s uninsulated and in Wisconsin it can get below freezing.
Is it harmful for a snake to go into brumation if it’s not as cold as 55? Just wondering if his system doesn’t slow enough so maybe it starves him?

I have a wonderful GBKS named Chevy, he is at least 17 years old. His diet consists of usually 1 (hardly ever 2) small female mice a month, any more than that and Chevy will not consume the mouse, he’ll live with it till he gets hungry again … Thanks, JM
