Burmese python used as a teaching aid dies after 30-year career.
An 18-foot-long, 200-pound Burmese python used for 30 years to help Texas students learn about science and nature has died.
The Burmese python, Katy, was used by teacher Jim Dunlap since 1975. Dunlap said his grandfather told him that you can’t teach anybody anything if you don’t have their attention.
Dunlap said that more than 100,000 students learned from, and interacted with, Katy throughout those three decades.
