The Reptile Zone in Bend, OR was burglarized the night of November 27, with the thieves making off with several reptiles and amphibians as well as some supplies from the reptile store. Police with the Bend Police Department announced in a press release the arrest of an 18-year-old woman, and a 17-year old juvenile, both residents of the city.
Bend Police communications Manager Sheila Miller told KTVZ News that the thieves stole three snakes, two frogs, a turtle, reptile supplies and the store’s tip jar. The value of the stolen items and animals was placed at around $3,000.
With the help of the community and the police investigation, Bend Police were able to identify the 17-year old as a suspect. According to the press release put out buy the police department, the juvenile admitted that he and his girlfriend burglarized The Reptile Zone and made off with the reptiles and supplies. The stolen merchandise as well as the reptiles were found in the couple’s residence, police said.
