The Internet has the habit of sensationalizing unlikely animal friendships, but they’re often so cute that we don’t mind spending hours scrolling through their Instagram pages in the name of article research. The latest unusual coupling is of Puka, a 4-year-old mixed breed dog and Rocket Larry, an African Sulcata Tortoise. Both animals were rescued by Christine Hilberg, with Rocket Larry adopted from a hoarder off Craigslist and Puka adopted from a homeless man after Hilberg’s friend saw the dog’s cleft lip and thought she might need medical attention (she did not), according to Mashable.
Hilberg told Mashable that Puka and Rocket Larry “have been inseparable ever since [she got Puka].”
