Carl, the king cobra is a new resident at the Memphis Zoo's Herpetarium.
The Memphis Zoo has added a king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) and a prehensile-tailed skink (Corucia zebrata) to its collection of reptiles at the zoo's herpetarium. Carl, as he is called, measures in at 10 feet long. The prehensile-tailed skink, as yet unnamed lives with a few others in its enclosure. One thing interesting with the prehensile-tailed skink is the mother and father will take care of their offspring (One offspring at a time) for six months to a year. They are from the Solomon Islands and live more than 20 years in captivity.
