We’re a country of people who worship our pets. In fact, 63 percent of U.S. households have at least one companion pet and exotic pets are the fastest growing category. Some are as small as the common red-eared slider turtle, or as big as the Rhinoceros Iguana. But even well-meaning owners with insufficient knowledge of the needs of these creatures, where they came from, and where they really belong are unaware of how their actions may have a devastating effect on the pet, the species, and on the fragile natural habitat surrounding our very own neighborhoods.
