A homeowner in Malaysia called the fire department after hearing some noises in the ceiling resulted in the capture of a pair of reticulated pythons (Python reticulatus) that had been apparently breeding. The video shows that the firefighters had broken through the ceiling and were coaxing the snakes out with a pair of tongs and a noose. One firefighter was soon able to grab the tail of one snake and pulled, which resulted in both reptiles crashing down through the ceiling.

The owner of the home had suspected that monkeys were hopping around her roof, but the owner’s daughter saw a crack in the ceiling of her bedroom. One of the snakes tails had fallen through the crack, which prompted the homeowner to call the fire department. In total it took seven firefighters to subdue and capture the snakes once they had hit the ground.

A video of the event was captured by TikTok user baju_skoda which shows the first responders pulling on the snake with a pair of tongs. One snake measured about 5 meters (16 ft) in length and weighed 32 kg (70 lb) while the other snake was 4 meters (13 ft) in length and weighed 25kg (55 lb).
The video has been seen nearly 80 million times on TikTok.

Reticulated Python Information
The reticulated python is considered the world’s longest snake and one of the three heaviest snakes. It is found throughout much of Southeast and South Asia, including Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and Borneo. The snake is popular with expert reptile keepers, though prior to captive breeding efforts over the last 30 plus years in the United States, the species was considered hard to handle due to its ill temperament. The snake is also the preferred meal for the king cobra, and videos have appeared in the past showing the two snakes battling it out.
