“To the person asking about loose skin around neck:

Turtles shed their skin, as snakes. If the turtle seem annoyed by it, you can try and gently pull it off. But the loose skin will eventually fall of by itself.

My Reeves turtle, Joe is about 35 years old. We got him when he was 12 and love him to death. He loves his crickets and eats turtle sticks. He is very friendly.

My Reeves was rescued from a rolled up bath mat >:( in 1989 and she is still as frisky as ever! I just cleaned her tank a couple of days ago and one of her favorite things has always been when I scrub her belly with a toothbrush and scratch her head and chin. She must think she’s a dog!

My turtle has what looks to be calcium buildup on his shell, its white. Any ideas?

my man lucky is about 26 years old…was well adapted to any kind of setting. recently prob due to a poor ph balance he got sick. He turned yellow his nose was in horrible shape, had sore on his behind, and had a stye like thing on his eyelid…but his eyes were clear his shell other than discoloration was perfectly fine. I did a complete water change…cleaned the entire tank top to bottom… as soon as I did that and put something called turtle fix into the tank..he’s been eating and bouncing around like a lil “puppy” …my only concern is that his mouth is still discolored but the rest of him is almost completely back to normal. Is there something more I can do without bringing him to the vet? Or should I bring him anyways?

I did want to know if they could live in a outside pond, it can get to 20% and freeze over in the winter. Will they hibernate?

“I’d like to know how you get to this point where the tank is perfectly filtered so only month water changes are necessary? Ive been trying to get my tank setup like this for the longest time.

“”Just calculated the age of my Reeves. I got him when the pet store said he was about 3 years old. That was in 1986. That makes home 33 years old.

He lives in a big 75 gal aquarium 36wx24h18 front to back. He has a small platform on the top for basking. He always has lots of gold fish to chase but I feed him turtle sticks daily. Water is perfectly filtered with only monthly water changes.””

Should the water really be that shallow. I have our new reeves turtle in a 30 gallon tank and its 3/4 full. Is this too deep?

Another site that I visited said that Reeves turtles love being petted.
