Do you remember the couple who purchased a home in Annapolis, MD only to find more than 12 snakes living in it and later filed a $2 million lawsuit against the real estate agent who sold them the home? Well, the agent who sold them the home has filed a lawsuit of her own in hopes of dismissing the case against her. 


Maryland Couple Sues over “Snake Infested” House

Barbara Van Horn, the agent who sold the home to Jody and Jeffrey Brooks for $410,000 and her attorney say that the family doesn’t have a right to sue, as the sales contract that the Brooks’ signed  has a clause in it that requires certain processes be followed in the event a dispute arises. Specifically, the sales contract states that:

“Neither party shall commence any action in any court regarding a dispute or claim … without first mediating the dispute or claim.” 

It will be interesting how this case plays out, in or out of court.
