Kansas Family Finds Ball Python In Toilet

KCTV5A family in Kansas was getting ready to go to bed when one of the children went to the bathroom and found a ball python (Python regius) in the toilet. Jami Garcia’s oldest son Andrew was finishing up in the bathroom when he lifted the lid of the toilet and discovered the snake, according to KCTV. He then told his mother to look in the toilet and when she did, she called some friends for help. When they arrived, the snake went back into the toilet pipe that leads to the drain, so Garcia’s friends pulled the toilet completely off the drain and brought it outside. They then took a hammer to the toilet and safely removed the ball python. One of Garcia’s friends who is familiar with snakes, decided to keep the pet.

Garcia had just moved into the apartment a week ago and learned from neighbors that previous tenants kept snakes.

Ball pythons are one of the most popular snakes in the hobby and come from western Africa but are now widely captive bred. They grow to about five feet in length and can live for 30 years or more.
