A would be snake keeper in Amhurst Co., VA released a six-and-a-half foot Colombian red tail boa after claiming the owner could no longer care for the otherwise seemingly healthy reptile.
According to ABC 13 News, the owner released the animal into the woods, but eventually returned to the apartment on its own. The snake was captured by a deputy and placed into a pillow case and taken tom a shelter where the owner gave up ownership of the reptile.

“PLEASE DO NOT CALL the shelter regarding the Columbian Red Tail Boa.
She is currently under Veterinarian care & not available to be seen or adopted at this time,” The Humane Society of Amherst, County wrote on Facebook.
“We have received several calls already, however, we will update you when we know more regarding her prognosis & availability.
Thank you in advance!”
Charges may be pending for the release of the boa.
