Wood frogs are always cool to see while herping out in the field. But have you seen an albino wood frog? This little guy was found at the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge in Rochert, Minn. The refuge is 43,000 acres and features more than 20 lakes, three rivers, and hundreds of little marshes and woodland ponds, perfect habitat for the wood frog.

Mass Die Off of Wood Frog Tadpoles Concerns Scientist


The wood frog (Lithobates sylvaticus) can be found throughout much of North America and is known mainly for its capability to freeze and thaw and carry on with its life. It averages about 2 and 2.5 inches in length and eats a range of insects and the tadpoles are known to be cannibalistic.
