This crocodile monitor is looking for its owner in Riverside, Calif.
Someone in Riverside, Calif. has lost his/her crocodile monitor, and the Riverside County Animal Services is hoping that the owner shows up to retrieve the lizard.
A homeowner in the county east of Los Angeles called the police, claiming a Komodo dragon was in her backyard. The police contacted Riverside County Animal Services, which actually determined the lizard to be a crocodile monitor (Varanus salvadorii), a species native to New Guinea but also kept by expert keepers.

"This guy is pretty cool. He definitely has to be someone’s lost pet," Kimberly McWhorter, Riverside County Animal Services in-house reptile expert said in a video posted to Facebook. “It is unusual for us to get monitor lizards and it is even more unusual for us to get such a specialized species like a crocodile monitor.”
