The owner of a reptile rescue in Ohio is looking for seven pythons that were stolen from its facility last weekend. Robin Everley, owner of Akron Rattery and Reptile Rescue, a state-certified rescue, says that all of the seven reticulated pythons are under four feet in length, and are less than six months old. Two of the snakes require medical care; one with a respiratory infection and the other has severe burns. Two ball pythons were found in a grass area behind the building during the morning of the break in.

The thieves broke into owner Robin Everley’s storefront by cutting a hole in a wall of a closed laundromat located next door. The owner of the rescue says the thieves were methodical in removing the reptiles from the room and knew exactly what they were stealing. The thieves ransacked the front of the store, releasing small animals that the store houses for the local high school during the summer, and ignored Thumbelina, a six-foot, 45-pound red-tailed boa constrictor who sat unmolested in its enclosure.
Everley says that reptile hobbyists in Akron are a close-knit group and is optimistic that the thief or thieves will be caught. He is pleading for the return the reptiles no questions asked.
“We are a very close-knit group. It’s a closed market. We expect them to be sold and sold again. Then we will get them,” Everley told the Beacon Journal.
